Signature Apartments rooftop community garden

Signature Apartments has a very active community, many of whom are interested in how they can have a more sustainable, less toxic lifestyle but still have the convenience of inner-city living.

One way Signature Apartments are doing this is with a community garden on their roof top and more than fifty self-contained garden beds around the open common area verandas, which are growing herbs, small veggies and flowers.

Food Connect is a great compliment to these initiatives and many of the residents at Signature Apartments were excited to have fresh, seasonal, chemical free fruit and veggies that were locally grown.

Considering that the food we consume uses up many times more water and fuel than what we use in the home, one of the best ways we can reduce our energy consumption is to eat food that we either grow ourselves or buy from local sustainable sources. Sydney Food Connect allows Signature Apartments to do this in an easy and economic manner.

Raed from the Petra Mini-Mart (within Signature Apartments – facing onto Regent and James Streets) is very much part of their community and has volunteered to be the City Cousin pickup point for Food Connect. This allows for a longer collection period each week which is a great benefit not just for the people within the building but also those from the local area who travel past on the way home down Regent Street or Clevelend Street.
