The City Farm will take some time to set up, but the Summer Garden in Sydney Park, St Peters from Jan – March 2013 gave a taste of what is to come. The Garden was full of crops and produce you wouldn’t normally find in your backyard or local community garden, and was host to a number of workshops covering topics from beekeeping and sourcing sustainable food to no-dig gardening. The 24 March 2013 saw the last hurrah for the Summer Garden with Harvest Day. Produce from the garden was used by the Veggie Patch Food Van to whip up some tasty meals, OzHarvest was there to share tips on how to cut food waste at home and three-piece bluegrass band Oh Willy Dear busted out some knee-slapping tunes.
