Worm Farm

** Please note – applications for this program have now closed **

Almost half of the average household bin is made up of food, but for those of us who live in apartment blocks, composting usually isn’t an option. To help apartment buildings to reduce food waste from going to landfill, the City of Sydney is offering five apartment buildings in its local government area the opportunity to host a Green Villages worm farming how-to workshop at their own building. Each participating household that comes to the workshop will also receive a free worm farm.

By participating in this free trial your building will receive:

  • 2x workshops on how to set up and maintain a balcony worm farm
  • A worm farm for each participating household (RRP $60)
  • Posters and flyers to advertise the workshop in the building
  • Handouts and worm farm signage.

In order for us to choose your building, we need your help!

  • You’ll need to get a commitment from at least ten of your neighbours to participate in the workshops. We’ll help by providing you with some RSVP flyers for you to pop in their letterbox.
  • You’ll need to nominate a key contact for your building to discuss times, dates and locations of the workshop.

If you’re interested in putting your building forward to be considered for the trial, contact Megan Chatterton mchatterton@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au to receive an Information Pack and Application Form. The applications will be reviewed by the Green Villages Project Officer and Sustainability Programs Coordinator.
