Recycling made easy

Can pizza boxes go in my recycling bin? What do I do with my old computer? Can I get my old sofa taken away for free? How do I recycle my washing machine? Where should batteries go?

The City’s new waste and recycling guide will hit your letterbox soon. This handy flip-guide will show you how to make the most out of the City’s services to reduce waste; like our collections for furniture and whitegoods; e-waste; garden organics and more.

In the past year, residents have recycled nearly 16,000 tonnes of paper and containers, 65 tonnes of e-waste, 113 tonnes of white goods, and 774 tonnes of garden organics, helping to boost our recycling levels. This means we’re well on our way of reaching our target of at least 66 per cent resource recovery by 2014.

The handy flip-guide also has a ‘No Advertising Material’ sticker to help you reduce unwanted junk mail.
